Teacher: Select a passage to read aloud that contains difficult points, unknown vocabulary terms, or ambiguous wording. Develop questions to ask yourself which show what you think as you confront these problems. Try to model the kinds of coping strategies you could use. Have students work with partners to practice "think alouds" when reading short passages of text. Periodically revisit this strategy so that metacomprehension skills become second nature. Good for elementary to high school.
