New Resources & Textbooks

CMS is dedicated to having the most up-to-date resources for students.

The following describes what we implemented during the 2011-2012 school year.  All new textbooks adopted for the 2011-12 school year have been enthusiastically implemented. Teachers continue to reap the benefit of the new online curricular resources, testing banks and internet based teaching support available today with these new texts. The elementary Spanish language staff members are working closely with the school administration to share teaching strategies, share resources and unit plans, and to learn about the new online versions of the new Spanish series. To further promote the implementation of new textbook adoptions, another grade level of online spanish resources was also purchased this year so that staff would have the opportunity to learn about and implement online resources.

Also new this year are the social studies texts and teacher resources being implemented in middle school grades 6-8 and grade 9 for AP US History. Teachers have implemented the recent materials, unit plans and lesson strategies for teaching the TCI Social Studies Program. In the middle school, they have worked as a team to use and apply this standards-based approach to teaching history and social studies with an emphasis on using authentic documents, document based questioning techniques, and common unit and grade level assessments.  Social studies teachers, as well as other core teachers, have incorporated the Project Based Learning (PBL) skills compatible with the TCI pedagogical approaches into their respective unit planning and assessments.

During the 2012-2013 school year we will be implementing all new texts and resources in Health and Spanish Native Language.
