ADMISSIONS POLICY, PROCEDURES AND ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS

Upon inquiring about admission to Carol Morgan School, families are given an appointment with our Admissions Director and given the welcome and admissions packets to provide them with a quick overview of the programs, philosophy, mission statement, vision statement and application form and requirements.  Once the application and required documents are submitted, the applicant will be scheduled for an in-house evaluation.  An application is not complete and space cannot be reserved until the entire application process is complete, including the CMS in-house evaluation and payment of tuition has been received.

AGE REQUIREMENTS

To be admitted to the Pre-Kindergarten program, the child must be 4 years of age prior to September 1st of that school year. To be admitted to the Kindergarten program, the child must be 5 years of age prior to September 1st of that school year. To be admitted to the First Grade program, the child must be 6 years of age prior to September 1st of that school year.

CLASS SIZE

Class size will be limited to the following:

Elementary School (Pre-Kindergarten)              60 per grade             15 per class

Elementary School (Kindergarten)                    75 per grade             15 per class

Elementary School (1st Grade to 5th Grade)    80 per grade             20 per class

Middle School (6th Grade to 8th Grade)           80 per grade             20 per class

High School (9th Grade to 12th Grade)            80 per grade             20 per class

The administration has the right to increase the above number by a maximum of one student per class in each grade (maximum of four spaces per grade except in Kindergarten, where it would be five spaces). These spaces are reserved for American Embassy and international students that apply for admission during the course of the school year.

PRIORITY CONSIDERATION FOR STUDENT ADMISSIONS

Provided the students have the academic ability to compete successfully in the CMS academic program and have demonstrated previous academic success in a similar U.S., American or international school, priority for admission will be given to applicants in the categories below in the following order:

1. Children of U.S. Government Employees*

2. Children of faculty and staff of Carol Morgan School

3. Siblings of currently enrolled students and former CMS Students

4. Children of CMS alumni

5. New applicants transferring from overseas

6. Students currently enrolled in a local school

*Board Resolution revised on 09/18/02:  “That all US Mission children be admitted, at all times, without regard to their arrival date to Carol Morgan School”.

Upon the third year of a CMS sibling applying for space, the sibling will be reclassified to a priority level equal to the overseas category and there will be a maximum of 2 students per grade level in any one year allowed to be reclassified.

When space limitations indicate that there are more candidates in any one category mentioned above than spaces, then admissions will be based on a first come, first serve basis. The date of the original application to the registrar will be used.

WAIT LIST

When a grade level is filled, a wait list is established.  Students are placed from the wait list according to the priority considerations above-mentioned as vacancies occur.  If no space becomes available in the applicants’ respective grades, they may re-apply beginning October 1st for the following academic year.  Updated transcripts, teacher recommendations and another evaluation are required for reapplication.  Being on a wait list is not a guarantee of space.

Cuando las familias preguntan sobre el proceso de admisión al Colegio Carol Morgan, se les coordina una cita con la Directora de Admisiones, se les entregan los paquetes de bienvenida y admisiones para proveerles una breve introducción a los programas, filosofía, misión, visión, formularios y requisitos de admisión. Una vez someten la solicitud y documentos requeridos, se le coordina una cita al solicitante para su evaluación. Una solicitud no está completa y el cupo no será reservado hasta que el proceso de admisión se haya completado, incluyendo el examen de admisión y el pago de la matrícula haya sido recibido.

REQUISITOS DE EDAD

Para ser admitido al programa de Pre-Kindergarten, el estudiante tiene que tener 4 años de edad cumplidos antes del 1ro de septiembre de ese año escolar. Para ser admitidos al programa de Kindergarten, el estudiante tiene que tener 5 años de edad cumplidos antes del 1ro de septiembre de ese año escolar. Para ser admitidos al programa de Primer Grado, el estudiante tiene que tener 6 años de edad cumplidos antes del 1ro de septiembre de ese año escolar.

TAMAÑO DE LOS CURSOS

El tamaño de los cursos se limitará a lo siguiente:

Escuela de Primaria (Pre-Kindergarten)                     60 por curso         15 por aula

Escuela de Primaria (Kindergarten)                            75 por curso        15 por aula

Escuela de Primaria (1er Curso al 5to Curso)            80 por curso         20 por aula

Escuela de Intermedia (6to Curso al 8vo Curso)        80 por curso         20 por aula

Escuela de Secundaria (9no Curso al 12vo Curso)   80 por curso         20 por aula

La administración se reserva el derecho de aumentar el número por un máximo de un estudiante por aula (máximo cuatro cupos por curso excepto en Kindergarten, donde serían cinco cupos). Estos cupos son reservados para los estudiantes de la Embajada Americana e internacionales que solicitan para admisión durante el transcurso del año escolar.

CONSIDERACIONES DE PRIORIDAD PARA LA ADMISIÓN DE ESTUDIANTES

Provisto que los estudiantes tengan la habilidad académica para competir exitosamente en el programa académico de CMS y han demostrado éxito académico previo en un colegio similar de Estados Unidos, Americano o internacional, la prioridad para admisión se le dará a los solicitantes en las siguientes categorías en el siguiente orden:

1. Hijos de empleados del gobierno de los Estados Unidos*
2. Hijos de profesores y personal del Colegio Carol Morgan
3. Hermanos de estudiantes actualmente inscritos o egresados del CMS
4. Hijos de ex-alumnos de CMS
5. Nuevos solicitantes transferidos de otros países internacionales
6. Estudiantes actualmente inscritos en un colegio local

*Resolución de la Junta de Directores revisada el 18/9/02: “Que todos los hijosde empleados del gobierno de los Estados Unidos sean admitidos, en todo momento, sin considerar su fecha de llegada al Colegio Carol Morgan.”

Al tercer año consecutivo de un hermano solicitando cupo, el hermano será reclasificado a un nivel de prioridad igual que la categoría internacional y habrá un máximo de 2 estudiantes por curso en cualquier año que se permitirán ser reclasificados. 

Cuando las limitaciones de espacio indiquen que hay más candidatos que cupos en cualquiera de las categorías antes mencionadas, las admisiones se basarán por orden de llegada. Se utilizará la fecha de la solicitud de admisión original depositada en la Oficina de Admisiones

LISTA DE ESPERA

Cuando un curso esté lleno, se establece una lista de espera. Los estudiantes se colocan en la lista de espera de acuerdo con su categoría de prioridad antes mencionada a medida que las vacantes surjan. Si ningún cupo está disponible en el curso respectivo de los estudiantes, éstos pueden solicitar nuevamente comenzando el 1ro de octubre para el próximo año escolar. Récords de notas actualizados, recomendaciones de profesores y otra evaluación se requieren para solicitar nuevamente. El hecho de estar en una lista de espera no le garantiza cupo.
