Mother's Day Concerts
Students in pre-kindergarten through fifth grades put on beautiful Mother's Day Concerts for our families. Students sung very special Mother's Day themed songs, showcasing what they have been learning in music class. All students did a great job! Congratulations to all ES students who participated in the ES Technology Showcase on Wednesday, April 3rd! Fifth Grade Students Headline the “Sounds from Under the Surface” Presentation
On Monday March 11th at 6:00 PM, the Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary Museum and Foundation presented "Sounds from Under the Surface." It brought art and science together, showing the beauty and the importance of our oceans and its preservation. After attending the successful High School produced Flag Day Ceremony on February 21, we participated in the Fine Arts DR Festival, experiencing all the sights and sounds of our local culture right here on our campus. Shark Shiver Monthly Meetings in January Focus on Tolerance
During our regular Shark Shiver Monthly Meetings with students in January, we recognized those who are making healthy, helpful choices by being kind to others. We also shared stories about kindness and tolerance with each group. Congratulations to the PTO for a wonderful Halloween Frolic! Despite being postponed due to Hurricane Sandy, this all-inclusive event had many different activities in which students participated. The PTO-sponsored Halloween Frolic has been postponed from Thursday, October 25th to Tuesday, October 30th due to Tropical Storm Sandy. The revised time schedule is from 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM. KINDERGARTENERS VISIT CMS WORKSHOP
CMS kindergartners had an adventure to the CMS Woodshop since they have been learning about construction and tools. Seeing these tools in action allows for our students to better understand their uses as well as acquire English language more effectively. It was very exciting to be able to take advantage of the school resources and be part of these significant learning opportunities that take place around us. HELPING HANDS ART EXHIBIT
The Fine Arts Department hosted the annual Helping Hands event on Thursday, May 3. This yearly occasion at CMS is another way that we as a community support local community service organizations by auctioning off students' artwork--elementary, middle, and high school--they have created over the past year. During the week of April 16th through 20th, CMS held its annual Heartcare Dominicana fundraising event. This organization helps less fortunate children with congenital heart disease. In addition to monetary donations, the Elementary School hosted several events to help raise awareness for this worthy cause.
