Symphonic Band & HS Advanced Choir visit Chicago / Theater "TOO MUCH LIGHT MAKES THE BABY GO BLIND"
SYMPHONIC BAND AND ADVANCED CHOIR
The Symphonic Band and HS Advanced Choir left Santo Domingo on Wednesday to visit Chicago, IL. During this trip the groups will perform in the Heritage Music Festival, watch the Chicago Symphony, watch “Bring it On,” the musical, see an NBA basketball game, visit Northwestern University, and tour the city.
To prepare for this trip, both the band and choir performed a concert at CMS on Monday March 13th. Both groups performed beautifully and will represent the school very well while on tour.
HS THEATRE
TOO MUCH LIGHT MAKES THE BABY GO BLIND is a show conceived and performed by a performance group in Chicago and New York called the Neo-Futurists. Their central goal is to create “theatre that doesn’t suck” and Too Much Light… is definitely that. Billed as “30 plays in 60 minutes” Too Much Light… employs original short plays written by the performers—some humorous, some poignant, some not even plays at all but more performance pieces—to express absolute honesty in performance. Carol Morgan School Students performed their version of Chicago’s longest running play this past Friday, March 9th at the ACCAS THEATRE FESTIVAL hosted by Colegio Dominico Americano. The play was a HUGE SUCCESS, with CMS performers stretching themselves and their abilities during their show—finding moments of theatrical brilliance in the process. Congratulations to the HS Advanced Theatre class and their accomplishment with this high-energy, highly creative piece of theatre!
