CMS ES LIBRARY

The ES Library Announces the
Carol Morgan School Book Fair 2012!

book fair01

The 2012 Book Fair is here! We will be having book fair activities from Monday, March 19 until Friday, March 23.

Starting on Monday, we will have preview sessions of the books. Students will spend a few minutes browsing books and making ‘Wish Lists’ with pricing to share with their parents and families.

Book purchasing will be Tuesday, March 20th through Friday, March 21st. Your child’s scheduled day and time will be posted by their classroom.

book fair02This year, we also have a Spanish publisher attending the book fair. The publishing company Susaeta will have a table of their lovely Native Spanish books for readers to purchase. Come see the Susaeta display in the ES library! A portion of those proceeds go to the CMS Spanish Library programs.

We will also have an option to purchase Spanish language books from Susaeta to donate to a local school or a local library. Book donations for CMS classrooms will happen at the Spring Fest, we want to make sure the kids get books first!

Finally, it’s going to be a busy week, so we need more volunteers. If you want to volunteer you can sign up for times at the ES Library or the ES Office, or send Katherine Robinson an email ( This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ) and I will send you the link to sign up online.

Thanks!

Guest Author!

Mr. Cesar Sanchez Beras graced us with his presence last week as he presented a mini-workshop on what it’s like to be a children’s writer.  Students were encouraged to share their own experiences as writers for their literature classes.  Mr. Sanchez was energetic and captivating to watch as he challenged students to look within themselves for the passion needed to write about topics that were relevant to them.

MIDDLE SCHOOL BOOK TALKS

Book Talks During Middle School SSR

During the Middle Schools customary Sustained Silent Reading time, the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) students went to all Home Bases and presented a brief Book Talk about a title they enjoyed and wanted to share with their friends.

The relational dynamic which emerges through these peer-to-peer presentations is of great benefit to all students.  Students like it when other kids recommend books to them.

BATTLE OF THE BOOKS!

bob

The battle is near!  This year’s format will be “Jeopardy” style, with students challenged to be the first to answer questions correctly.  It should be great fun.

Middle School students will compete on Wednesday, March 28th in the Video Conference Room beginning at 1:15pm.

High School students will compete the following day, Thursday March 29th also starting at 1:15pm.

Please come out to support the kids during this colorful contest.
