Dominican Authors, Spanish Books and Community Service
DOMINICAN AUTHOR PRESENTS AT CMS
Cesar Sanchez Beras, author of "Sorpresas de Carnaval" came to visit as a part of our Spanish library experiences and share ideas about his book. There was an empathy between the students and the author and they asked him many questions about the story. Finally they asked the author to come back to school for another visit. He signed books for the students and students were motivated by his visit. The Dominican authors' visits are arranged by Mrs. Dorcas Aybar our Spanish Librarian.

COMMUNITY SERVICE ACTIVITIES
During the month of February, our students engaged in different community service activities. Here are some of the activities done by the HS students.
9th grade class Pico Duarte trip
Even though this was one of the most challenging Pico Duarte trips because of the weather our 9th graders rose to the challenge and crowned the highest peak in the Caribbean.
12th Grade Visit to Aldeas Infantiles SOS Los Mina
As a 12th grade special project our seniors visited the Aldeas Infantiles SOS in Los Mina. They spent a whole morning full of games, arts and crafts, singing and dancing.
Annual Red Cross Blood Drive 2012
Like every year we had students, parents and staff donating blood for the Dominican Red Cross.
Un Techo Para Mi Pais
For two whole days our HS students build a house with the organization Un Techo Para mi Pais, making it possible for a family to have a home.
AP Environmental Science Class Trip with Reef Check Foundation
Our Students learned first hand the importance of the reefs, the various ecosystems that exist in our beaches and the danger they are in.
For the month of March we will continue with our Reach outs and Tech for the Future Club programs each Tuesday and Wednesday. Our environmental club will be visiting a recycling foundation in Cotui, where plastic bags are recycled in the form of purses, placemats, rugs and many other forms. We will be also visiting La Aldeas again and the Asilo de Ancianos San Fransisco de Asis during the month.
