CMS TAKES THIRD PLACE AT ANNUAL ACCAS SPELLING BEE

Bee4  Bee5  Bee6

The fourth annual ACCAS Spelling Bee was held at Dominico Americano on Wednesday, March 28th.  Congratulations to the students who represented Carol Morgan School.  CMS maintained its consistent finish by earning third place as a team (we have earned third place three out of the four years of the Spelling Bee’s existence).  Individual winners included second place finisher Sofia in second grade, first place finisher Gregor in third grade, and third place finisher Jeffrey in fifth grade.  It was a wonderful experience and great day!  Thank you to CMS teachers who served as judges:  Teresa Bee, Jennifer Willner, and Sofia Udner.  An appreciation also is due to three of our CMS assistants who served as chaperones:  Mariela Feliz, Claudia Ruiz, and Sergio Vargas.

 ATHLETIC ASSEMBLIES

Athletic1  Athletic2  Athletic3

Thank you to the ES PE Department comprised of Ms. Courtney Hall, Mr. Emilio Llaverias, and Mr. Mario Osorio for organizing such fun-filled, CMS-spirited pep assemblies.  Students competing in our friendly competition showcased some of the skills on which they have been working in PE.  Classmates were great “sports” by cheering for members of their own team as well as ones of other teams.  And thanks also to Mr. Ryan Collier, Ms. Gabriela Jimenez, and Mr. Stalin Ciriaco for their support during the event.  ES students had a great time!

PTO MARCH & APRIL MEETINGS' RECAP

PTO conferences  PTO choices

In addition to regular monthly business, March’s PTO meeting included a presentation entitled How to Make the Most of Your Parent Teacher Conference.  ES Assistant Principal Nathan Bahrenburg shared with parents how to prepare for their upcoming meeting with their child’s teacher(s) as well as describing what to do before, during, and after the event.  Example questions for parents to ask were shared.  April’s topics included a presentation about providing developmentally and age appropriate choices for children (which included a review of Kelso’s Choices) in a presentation entitled Offering Choices.  A Fifth Grade Parent Meeting immediately followed where information was shared about the Moving Up Ceremony as well as the upcoming transition to Middle School for our fifth graders.  Both presentations can be found by clicking on the images above.  All parents are invited to the final PTO meeting of the school year on Wednesday, May 16 at 7:45 AM in the Blue Room. We hope to see you there!

HEARTCARE DOMINICANA

heartcare

This weeks marks CMS' annual fundraising event for Heartcare Dominicana, the organization that helps less fortunate children with congenital heart disease.  Last year, our school-wide efforts helped to support four surgeries.  Our goal this year is to increase to five.  In the Elementary School, Student Council sold appreciation cards during lunch hours.  Popcorn sales also took place.  Friday, students may wear jeans to school to show our collective support for Heartcare.  Please know that monetary donations are not required to wear jeans--however, they will be accepted.  Finally, PTO is hosting a bake sale for Heartcare on Tuesday, April 24th.  Thanks, in advance, for your support!

FAMILY FUN DAY

Hope to see you at Family Fun Day this Saturday, April 21.  It is a fun-filled day at Guavaberry Country Club of swimming, tennis, golf, and family fun...looking forward to seeing you there!

STUCO-SPONSORED DRESS UP DAY IS AROUND THE CORNER!

buzz    catinhat    cinderella    incredibles

On Friday, April 27, students may dress up as their favorite character from a book, from a movie, or as a superhero.  As you help prepare your child for this very fun day, please be mindful that costumes should be content-appropriate for school and age-appropriate for students as well as maintain the spirit of CMS' dress code (for example, thin spaghetti straps on girls costumes would not be appropriate).  We look forward to this fun day and thank you in advance for helping your son or daughter choose an appropriate costume.
