CMS TECHNOLOGY SHOWCASE

Over 25 elementary students participated in this year’s CMS Technology Showcase on Wednesday, March 7th. Presenting to parents and fellow classmates, they shared what they have been learning in technology class as well as how they use technology to help them learn in core subjects. Examples of topics shared included Internet Safety, Online Presentations, and iPad Technology. A special thank you to students for their hard work. Also, a big thank you to technology teachers Nancy Acosta and George Santos for their work in teaching these important 21st Century technologies and skills to our ES students which were highlighted at the showcase.
ART IN ALL OF US
An art program promoting tolerance and cultural exchange, CMS third graders have been participating in this online forum. After sending student created artwork representing the Dominican Culture to partner schools in the United States, participating students recently received thank you cards from those who received their work (see picture to the left). Congratulations to art teacher, Ms. Raquel Baez, for her work in promoting the arts among our ES students and learning community! To learn more about the program, visit http://artinallofus.org/. Well done third graders!
PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCE DAY
Parent Teacher Conferences were held on Thursday, March 15th in the Elementary School. Thank you to parents for attending these very important information sharing sessions. Teachers are to be appreciated for their hard work and preparation for this important day of sharing feedback about students. Parents are to be commended for attending and providing teachers valuable feedback about the school and important information about their children. Days such as these help us to continue cultivating our positive home-school relationship. Thank you to all!
CMS BOOK FAIR
The Book Fair is finally here! Next week, students will visit the Blue Room to view and select from a wide variety of titles. On Monday, March 19th, we will have preview sessions of the books. Classes will visit in short, 20 minute sessions to look at books and fill out the wish lists with prices. Book purchasing starts on Tuesday, March 20th. In addition to the English titles from the Scholastic Book Company, we also have a Spanish publisher, Susaeta, offering books for sale. Finally, it’s going to be a busy week, so we need more volunteers! If you want to volunteer, please see ES librarian Katherine Robinson in the ES Library to sign up for a time. We look forward to seeing you at the annual CMS Book Fair.
ES INTERNATIONAL FAIR'S "CALL OF NATIONS" UPCOMING ASSEMBLY
The annual ES International Fair “Call of Nations” Assembly will be held Friday, March 23rd. We invite you to attend the Call of Nations Opening Assembly which will take place in the gymnasium starting at 8:00 AM. Immediately following, parents are welcome to take a walk through the exhibits which include a display of information learned about each country studied. Be sure to join us for this special event! Also know that these displays will be on exhibit near the International Food Fest at Spring Fest which is Saturday, March 24th. Please note: If you are interested in sharing with the students in your son’s or daughter’s class about the country in which you are from (even if it is not a country we are studying), please contact your child’s teacher to set-up a time.
SPRING FEST & THE INTERNATIONAL FOOD FAIR: A GREAT COMBINATION!

Spring Fest, including the International Food Fair (IFF), is to be a fun-filled, kid-friendly day. Games, booths, inflatables, and treats, such as popcorn and cotton candy, will round out the day. Thanks to the International Food Fair Committee as well as all parents and teachers who will support the Fest through sponsoring a booth, supplying a dish for the IFF, and/or attending. It will be a wonderful day!
DROP-OFF AND PICK-UP
Thank you for your cooperation with keeping the hallways clear and quiet during instructional time. This is a friendly reminder that once you drop your child off for school we ask that you move to the hallway with concrete benches just inside the gate to visit (we’d like to have the halls clear by 7:30). Likewise, at the end of the day we ask that you visit in the same location until 2:10. Again, thank you for helping us make the most of every minute so that your children can learn more!
