3rd Grade Encourages Dominican Tourism / ES BOOK EXCHANGE
3rd GRADE ENCOURAGES DOMINICAN TOURISM

The 3rd grade has been working on a PBL.The guiding questions was 'How can we encourage more foreign tourists to visit our country?". Students talked about the pros and cons of tourism, researched parts of our country, found photos, found music, and filmed short videos. Then they put all of their work together into Animoto, a program that animates photos and videos. Special thanks to the Photographer Pedro Genero, for allowing us to use his photos in the projects.
Here are some examples of our finished products! If you want to see more, contact Ms. Robinson in the library.
ES BOOK EXCHANGE
It’s time to Spring Clean your bookshelves! Does your child have books in English at home that they have already read and are done with? Do you have bookshelves of children’s books in English that are collecting dust? At the ES Book Exchange students can exchange those books for something they haven't read!
The ES Book Exchange will take place at the end of May. Students will bring gently used, good condition books in English. For each book they bring, up to six books, students will get a ticket . Volunteers will approve and organize the books. Then students will be able to exchange their tickets for books they have never read before! Any leftover books will be sold at the end of the week for 40 pesos each, with the money benefiting the ES Library.
It’s a great way to get English reading materials just before summer starts, and clean out bookshelves. All books must be in good condition. If you have more than 6 good condition books we will also happily take donations. The wider variety we have, the more likely it is children will be able to find good reading materials at their level.
Do you like the idea of a book exchange? Then please volunteer to make it happen! You can volunteer by e-mailing the ES Library Director, Katherine Robinson, at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or come by the ES Library.
