ES NEWS FLASH: HELPING HANDS, ES MUSICAL, & AUTHOR'S CAFE

HELPING HANDS ART EXHIBIT

HH1 HH2  HH3  HH4

The Fine Arts Department hosted the annual Helping Hands event on Thursday, May 3.  This yearly occasion at CMS is another way that we as a community support local community service organizations by auctioning off students' artwork--elementary, middle, and high school--they have created over the past year.  Fundación Futuro Posible is the benefactor of our efforts this year.  Congratulations to the Fine Arts Department on a very successful Helping Hands Art Exhibit.  Pictured above are various elementary school students with the work they completed as well as a photo of the ES Art team of teachers:  Leticia Massas, Raquel Baez, and Claudia Elias.

MAY'S CHARACTER TRAIT OF THE MONTH

teamwork

At the character trait assemblies on May 2nd and 3rd our national anthems were sung by our ES choir.  Mr. Bagnato, representing the MS Environmental Club, shared with the ES students what we can all do to help support our CMS Team and the Earth we all share.  He asked students to remember to use both sides of the paper we write on at school and to recycle plastic bags using a bin that will be placed near the main ES entrance to CMS.  Ms. Lucille and Mr. Bahrenburg then read a short literature piece about teamwork and working cooperatively together and acted out another story about teamwork with the help of some fifth grade students.  These literature pieces reminded students that we are all on the same team at CMS and as a team, together we all achieve more.

"WHEN LIFE HANDS YOU LEMONS, MAKE LEMONADE!"

Congratulations to the cast and crew of Lemonade!  This year's ES Spring Musical proved to be a student-centered, kid-created event showing how to take even the very worst days and turn them into joy!  A special congratulations also goes out to ES faculty and staff who helped guide this performance for our students:  Stage Director Yulimer Almonte, Choir Director Carmen Xenia Rivera, Assistant Director Yolaine Luna, Stage Designers Leticia Massas, Raquel Baez, and Claudia Elias, and Choreographer Maria Paradas.  A BIG THANK YOU to all PARENTS who helped their students create the beautiful costumes...A job well done by all!

THANK YOU TO OUR PTO!

thankyou

The final PTO meeting took place on Wednesday, May 16th @ 7:45 AM.  This all-school meeting will wrap up the work completed this school year.  The Elementary School would like to recognize the work of the ES division of the PTO and thank its leaders, Michelle Lalo and Carolina Silva, for all their hard work, time, and effort!  It has truly been a great year.
