Academic Staff

Carol Morgan School (CMS) recruits educators in the Dominican Republic as well as internationally. The general information shared on this page relates to educator positions, including teaching, counseling, and librarians, as well as instructional assistants who directly collaborate with teachers and engage and support students in their learning.

Hiring Status

CMS has two categories of hiring statuses, local hire (LH) and foreign hire (FH). An applicant is considered LH if the he/she lives, resides, and/or is interviewed and recruited in the Dominican Republic. An applicant is considered FH if he/she lives, resides, and/or is interviewed and recruited outside of the Dominican Republic and relocated to the Dominican Republic for the primary purpose of working at CMS.

Educator spouses of FH teachers that do not initially work for CMS at the time of hiring but who are later hired by CMS would be considered FH as their family was originally relocated to the Dominican Republic for the primary purpose of working at CMS.

Positions are not posted as LH or FH as the determination of this hiring status is based on the person filling the position established at the time of initial hiring based on the above guidelines. Requests for change in hiring status will not be considered during the full time of employment at CMS.

Employment

For LH staff, the local law applies in relation to terms and benefits of employment. For FH staff, contracts are required for employment in the Dominican Republic and are initially two years with the option to renew annually.  CMS also has Board policy and a Staff Manual that provide further detail in terms of employment.

Education and Experience

CMS requires an undergraduate degree with educator certification from the United States or the equivalent of these requirements in other countries CMS recruits from. Educators with a master's degree are preferred. In addition, CMS requires a minimum of two years of teaching experience. CMS has no age hiring restrictions related to obtaining visas for employment in the Dominican Republic.

Salary

Salaries are highly competitive both for LH and FH. Our LH salaries exceed average compensation at other international and local private schools in the Dominican Republic. Our FH salaries are equal to or exceed international schools that we recruit against in the region. In addition to salary, CMS LH and FH staff are eligible for an annual incentive related to master’s or doctoral degrees upon confirmation of credentials.
