Fine Arts

Carol Morgan School's Fine Arts program offers students the possibility of exploring instrumental and vocal music, visual arts, dance, and theater. At CMS, we believe that the Fine Arts promote an understanding of the human experience, and so they are an essential part of the core educational program for all students. Each academic year, the Fine Arts Department offers a variety of performances and exhibitions on and off campus, allowing students to share their own artistic discoveries with others. CMS artists are also afforded the opportunity to be exposed to the arts on a community, regional, and global level through local and international trips to various exhibitions and inter-collegiate festivals.

Art

Carol Morgan School students are part of a rich and fulfilling experience through their exposure to the visual arts. In the elementary years all students take art classes. When they reach the 6th grade level they go through a variety of exploratory courses. This allows them to define their true passion. Those who find it in the visual arts can continue developing their skills all the way up to their senior year. Many of our seniors have been accepted to some of the best schools of design by building and submitting their high school art portfolios.

Dance is your pulse, your heartbeat, your breathing. It’s the rhythm of your life. It’s the expression in time and movement, in happiness, joy, sadness and envy.
— Jacques D’Amboise

Dance

Dance is a fun and dynamic semester elective in which students have the opportunity to express themselves through movement. Dance is focused on the development of physical and creative skills through techniques and provides students with the opportunity to work together in small choreographic numbers and dance improvisation. Participants also learn about the different types of dance that exist historically and culturally. This elective is fun for students as they learn to use dance as a means of communication and expression of art.

Classes take place in the Dance Studio, located in the Shark Center. Students have the opportunity to perform in school wide events on and off campus throughout the year.

Theater

The Carol Morgan School Drama and Theater Department offers middle and high school students opportunities to engage in and explore drama and theater holistically. Students are challenged to devise and perform on stage, manage, produce, design and execute technical aspects of theater, and to become critical, analytical, and appreciative audiences.

All classes take place in the Black Box Theater. In-class and extracurricular productions take place periodically throughout the year in various locations around campus.
