Optimal Learning Center

Optimal Learning Support
The Optimal Learning Center (OLC) is a resource at CMS within student support services. The goal is to provide an optimal level of services to ensure the success of identified students school wide.

ELL (English Language Learners)
About 80% of the students at Carol Morgan School are first language Spanish speakers.  Our English Language Learner (ELL) program (grades K-8) plays an important role in helping students succeed in an English immersion environment. The ELL specialists and classroom/content area teachers work together to reinforce listening, speaking, reading, and writing in English to promote success in students' academic growth as they acquire the English language.

Academic Intervention
The Early Intervention program is designed to monitor students in the early grades and provide intervention support in grades K-1 in academic readiness, skill reinforcement, and social development to ensure a solid foundation in the early years.

The Learning Support program (grades 2-12) emphasizes the cognitive and academic skill intervention necessary for learning and social development. A strong focus is placed on literacy (reading and writing), math, and study skills/executive functioning skills as they are key to students' future success.
